What to Expect at Church

We’re glad you are thinking of joining us! Here’s what you can expect at Southpine.

Family Worship Service 10 am

We usually begin with about 15-20 minutes of singing. Feel free to sit, stand, sing or just listen as we express ourselves to God. If you don’t know the songs, that’s OK, we didn’t know them at first either. Maybe you will find following the words on the screen meaningful.

The Message: A thought-provoking message based on the Bible, usually by our Pastor David Gillespie.

Kids Focus Time: We have an intergenerational worship service, so we have a segment for the kids every week.

The Offering: We do have an offering every week, but it’s not for people who are checking out faith or the church.

Café: Please join us for a cuppa and a bickie after the service on the veranda outside.

Crèche: Once a month we offer a crèche for children under 5 while the family worship service is happening. Your children will be cared for by kind, loving, safety-conscious childcare volunteers who will greet you and care for your baby or toddler. We start our 10am church with everyone together and at about 10:30am an announcement will be made and you will be invited to walk your children out to the crèche room. At that time, you will be required to fill in our welcome to crèche form (link here) and sign your child in. Then you can return to your seat, sit back, relax and enjoy a child free sermon presentation. After the sermon finishes please pick up your child promptly as they will accompany you to the café area for a drink, snack and toileting before children’s group time.

Bible Discussion 11:30 am

After Café please stay for our small group based teaching / Bible discussion time. All welcome.

Digging Deeper: Discuss the sermon topic with the speaker of the day. Yes you can ask questions.

More Than the Headlines: Discuss events in the recent media and what spiritual lessons we can learn.

Lesson Discussion: The Seventh-day Adventist lesson brought to life. (Link)

Youth: Relevant Christianity for today's world.

Teens/Tweens: Activities and lively Bible discussion on topics that matter.

Kids Time 11:30 am

Kids have their own interactive & fun Bible study groups (singing, crafts, games, stories, activities).

Tots4JC: Kids 0-4 years (one parent usually stays and experiences the interactive Bible activities with their child/ren).

Kids4JC: Prep to year 7 (parents usually leave their children in the care of our caring Children’s ministry leaders).
